Reading the Gospels
Over time, we tend to let our vision of the greatness of God and of Jesus Christ contract. We tend to 'domesticate' God.
Regular reflection on the greatness and immensity of creation can help us grow in our understanding and experience of the greatness and power of God.
Similarly, regular reflection on the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus can help us grow in our understanding and experience of the greatness of Jesus Christ.
In 1 John 1:3 it says regarding Jesus Christ:
'We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you also may have fellowship with us. And our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ.'
This year we are encouraging everyone in our church to spend regular time reading the gospels (in addition to your normal bible reading routine). We plan to focus on a gospel a quarter:

We would like to encourage you to read each gospel in two ways:
- read a small portion regularly (eg. in February you could read a chapter of Matthew each day)
- read a large section (even the whole gospel) in an extended sitting. Reading a whole gospel takes between 1 and 2 hours if you don't pause at the details and it gives you a great overview.
We also would like people to share insights and thoughts about what they are reading in the forums on this page.
